by Sappys - written on 13.09.05 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)

I am a current employee of PC World and let me tell you it's a copmlete and utter rip-off, don't go there to buy ANYTHING! First things first! Looking to go there to buy a new PC or Laptop? DONT! Although they are big brand names on offer, the after service is shit and the sales people know NOTHING! You may think they care about your PC needs but all there after is more money to add to there sales target (they ...

Premium Review PC World : PC Performance Warranty
by mattmeister2004 - written on 03.08.05 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
Hi, In May 2004 i purchased a new Packard Bell PC from the Lincoln shop of PC World. At the time I purchased the 5yr PC Performance Warranty at £300 and now just over one year later, I tried making a claim for a new monitor as this one failed. After going to the original store I left with-out a new monitor :( Salesman said that the computer wasnt covered at all even though i was holding a valid warranty agreement!

Premium Review PC World : Nil Points for P.C World
by January - written on 11.05.04 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
My computer has been playing up for quite a while now, not only did it get the Mydoom virus but certain files were then corrupt, so then it didn't run properly. I rang AOL who helped as much as they could offering me advise on anti-virus programmes and over the phone consultation. This helped a lot but as I only had a second hand computer it was inevitable that it wasn't going to last for a long time. Having used ...

Premium Review PC World Business is just as bad
by tsh2 - written on 23.01.04 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
Obviously, I'd never chose to deal with PC world myself... When a relacement laptop arrived after an insurance claim, and the invoice read PC World Business, I thought I was lucky that it had arrived, only a week later than everything else I had had stolen. The only problem was it doesn't work... They won't give me a RMA number, and won't send a replacement without me speaking to an engineer. Now they ...

Premium Review PC World : Pretty C##p World....
by babajane32 - written on 04.12.03 - Rating: (2 of 5 possible stars)
The stores; One of the best features of P C world is that they have many stores accross England and they are generally very accessable with good parking facilities and generally on main bus routes. My local store is in Nottingham and is fairly typical of all the stores i have visited. It is clean and well laid out, with plenty of room to browse round and automated large doors, ideal for people with ...

Premium Review PC World - IN BREACH OF THE SALE OF GOODS ACT?
by Mr MBA - written on 15.12.02 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
I bought a Canon printer at the beginning of October which ceased to function by the beginning of December - a little over 2 months. On returning it to the store for a refund, this was refused by the manager since the printer was over 28 days old! Instead, I was asked to contact the manufacturer to claim repair under the manufacturers warranty. IS THIS A BREACH OF THE SALE OF GOODS ACT 1979(as ...

Premium Review PC World (From the inside)
by reiatu - written on 01.12.02 - Rating: (3 of 5 possible stars)
I write as an employee of PC World, I infact work in the customer service department of a fairly busy branch. Im writing to try and explain a few of the common problems which many people seem to have had reading the posts on DooYoo. 1) Phone system. Not being called back which is quite anouying! The main reason this happens is that you leave a message which is never seen by the person(s) needing ...

Premium Review PC World : BAFOONS R US
by caseydooyoo - written on 05.08.02 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
The PC extended warrinty is excellent in PRINCIPLE. But in pratice u would be better off dealing with BAFOONS R US. They made three attempts to repair my machine in my home. After each call by the engineer, there was something new broken on the machine. The idiot attempted to replace M/b with a lesser spec board and wondered why it would not fire up...! Then claimed it was CPU, checked cpu after ...

Premium Review PC World : Do you want to earn a bit of extra money without expressing your opinion?
by rlaw - written on 05.08.02 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
Where in the world? Not PC world! That is what I think the mot should be changed to, as it is more true then their own. Their little statemnet in the adverts on the TV constantly is 'we're stamping down on prices' but what do you know they're not. It's a con, take this as an example a Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad Pro, which is not very good in any case (read my review) was priced at £29.99, ...

Premium Review PC World My Arse
by Mr Interesting - written on 20.06.02 - Rating: (5 of 5 possible stars)
Opposite my college lies one of the largest PC world stores in Cornwall. On many occasions me and my friends have crossed over the busy dual carriage way to browse the store bargains....However on every time I have visited PC World I have been disgraced. The shop employees poor staff who are badly trained. Once I asked the lady on the mobile desk about o2 network coverage and only to be told that she didn't have a clue ...

Premium Review PC World : Where in the world? NOT PC WORLD!
by SimonFinnigan - written on 12.06.02 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
PC World, that happy place where families go to buy everything they want to meet their computing needs - or so they`d like you to think. The reality of PC World is a computer superstore - they`ve got almost anything you could ever want, but that isn`t enough in itself. To start with the prices are on the extravagant side to say the least - if you shop about on the internet you can normall save at least 20-25% on the ...

Premium Review PC World PC Deceive More Like It
by CarlnAdele - written on 09.06.02 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
Please see below a copy of an email I sent to PC World and Trading Standards Dear Sirs, I find myself in disbelief today having been treated very badly, twice on the same day by your organisation. Firstly I went to your store in Leeds (where I have made many purchases before) to buy a 60Gb IBM ATA100 HDD and 100 Blank CD R Media. Having seen the sign in your outlet before, I requested they ...

Premium Review PC World - BEWARE!!!
by ee96ddo - written on 02.06.02 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
Unfortunately for most of us PCWorld is the only local retailer with all computer needs under one roof. Whereas supermarkets have cut the cost of food etc by building these large outlets, PCWorld uses them as a high- profit, hard-sell operation. Try to get out of the shop after purchasing any hardware without being pressurised into buying their extended insurance. At first glance you may find the offer looks reasonable, but ...

Premium Review PC World : Ex-employee (and ex-customer) writes...
by IainPurdie - written on 31.05.02 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
I've read a couple of the reviews from other people regarding PC World and can accept that opinions vary. Mine is exceptionally negative. Both from the employee and customer viewpoints. I worked in the Leeds store, just off J1 of the M621. Briefly, I was hired based on my knowledge of computers. It's the only field I've any expertise in, and after 20-some years I'd like to think I know a fair bit! ...

Premium Review PC World : abysmal in-store service
by rotor1 - written on 29.05.02 - Rating: (1 of 5 possible stars)
This comment refers to the Bath store, but in conversation with others I suspect it is a nationwide problem. Five consecutive trips to PC world in the last six weeks have proved utterly frustrating. First visit: a speculative trip to buy a laptop. There was a well specified Advent 6422 at £1199 on the shelf which I expressed an interest in. I asked if they had it in stock and was told "No, but we can get one in ...

Premium Review PC World : When things go wrong
by RobDickson - written on 25.05.02 - Rating: (3 of 5 possible stars)
When I was deciding on a PC to buy, the staff at PC World was friendly, helpful and proffesional. The offer of included in home help to repair any warranty faults sounded very useful. However, once things started to go wrong, PC World's service really began to show its true colours. My initial problem was that whenever I was connected to the internet, my cursor constantly flickerd between the arrow and ...

Premium Review PC World, does it really suck like everyone thinks?
by adam_caines - written on 22.05.02 - Rating: (3 of 5 possible stars)
As many of you that read my opinions may have gathered by now, I dont have many bads things to say about technology but now its times like these when I see PC World with 218 opinions that I feel I have to add something of interest to a seemlessly endless debate. I have worked in Dixons and Currys through DSG (Dixons Stores Group) for nearly 2 years and PC World is, if you didn't already know, part of the group DSG. ...
